An old, lost.... "pinching trick " technique......

Back in the day... some might remember this technique... Ive been using it all these years it really works.. Your faking the "Pinching" or topping the plant...when your really not. Your tricking the plant into thinking it's gotten topped. When the sun don't hit your leading branch tips, it tells itself to send all the good "growing" fluids to lower  limbs usually the next tallest, and proudest. It really works.

First I'll need to get one of my clone keg cups.. any cup will work long as its colored and will block the lite.. then it has to have  some holes on the bottom for air flow.

This is the way I make my solo keg cups for my rooted clones.  That's my pencil soldering iron, that's how I put the drainage holes in the cups.

Perfect for what we are doing.... lets in air....... keeps out most of the light..... I've did this technique  with out holes also but it makes your plant tips wet and you have to lift  them off daily so they can dry... I found putting holes for air that I can leave the cup  on for two  or three days.. before taking them off.

Makes great  holes

You can also just bend the tip over and tie it in a upside down "U".... the tip now pointing at the ground. Leave it that way for 2 or 3 days... any longer will put a kink in the main stem at the bend.

Your just trying to get some of those growth hormones into lower  limbs without topping the plant...by tricking it...and  by moving the cup  to different plant tips you can coax lower limbs to grow...

Just drop over tip for a few days
I usually do a few tips at once, and just keep rotating the cups till I get the shape I'm looking for...

Cups in action.

So anyways that's how I do it...... try it .....

         until again...

EZ Cloner hacks

This is one of the many drafts, for "posts" I'm writing. Which are mostly all 420ish type writings.  They are all in different stages of completion. Some just a title, some half way, some waiting on photos, some needing just to be "proof  read...... as this one........anyway ......

Well  after reading some posts at icmag.com about people's experience using a EZ Cloner, I thought I'd say something on the subject. I been using, both.. the 120 site unit and 60 site unit for like 7 to 8 years.... at least one of the cloners is up and running most the time...  anyway..... I'm needing like thirty (30) to Fifty (50) clones every 30 days.. depending on style of grow. Usually picking the best from 60 or so clones..

EZ Cloners... yeah............ Been running them for awhile now. I have the Original EZ Cloner design.... The ones with the drain on the front lower left corner.. The new EZ Cloner design  have the drain on the side, kind of high off the bottom... after draining...it probably leaves a lot of water still in the tub... I'll bet.. The original ones leave some water to.... but I'm a lazy grower.. And after these few years of working with the machine I have made some changes that make my life easier......

The real labor and pain with any cloner, at least for me.......is changing the water weekly...specially mid run.. I'm sure there are others just like me and hate changing that water.... but its one of those maintenance things you just "have to" do... usually when the water doesn't hold its pH, is when I change my water.. when the pH is like in the high 4's and wont come up with help.... commercial pH Up or Down solution.... is what I use to help.

Well...so these are a few of the things I've done to make my EZ Cloners less work to run, and maybe helped with the efficiencies of the units... I put a hose thread "cut off" valve and "female to female" hose adapter on my drain flange. That way I can hook a hose to it to drain and then refill with the same connection... it makes for very little work. Here's what the valve now looks like

Still leaves alittle water in the tub.. but.........awhile back I  bought my kids these squirt gun tubes.... you see em at swimming pools and lakes...the kind that are like a straw and you pull water up the tube....  then quickly push it out the end.... so one day... I filled up a bucket of water so the kids could run around the yard squirting each other.... I watched that squirt gun tube suck up half the bucket. Well...........doggy.... I knew then what I was gonna do with that toy squirt gun. Next time I changed water I used that squirt gun to pull up the last bit of water that was left in the corner of tub.... check it out..........

They cost like 3 bucks at Walmart... shoots water hella far.....
notice that big round air stone at lower right..... in front of the pump intake, you really can't see it. I'll get a better photo of the air stone....

So that's the way... I change my cloner water .... no problems and no moving the tub to clean it. I prop the tube up with a 2X4 block... one in the rear one at the right end.. I got a good brush I keep close, to scrub out the interior and rinse down it all down the drain hole with a pitcher of clean water.. once you get the water out of it.... its no work to fill... just thread the end of your hose onto a faucet and filler up.  Be sure up lift the hose to make sure its empty of the dirty water. before attaching to your clean water source...

blocked-up for draining

some other small things I've done, is remember that big air stone I told ya to notice.. its one of my upgrades to the air supply... instead of the perforated tube that came with the unit... also this bigger air pump is the another upgrade... blows serious bubbles I put it in front of the pump intake.. so when the pump is on it sucks hella air infused cloning solution, to all those clone stems

Better shot of air stone

Air pump upgrade

Being one... of the few pieces of equipment that I feel is mandatory to have when growing, that's a good working cloner... one that works for you... I used a DIY EZ Clone knockoff... that I built for like 2 years, before a good friend kicked me down the 60 site...  later acquired the 120 site in poker game... I cant even guess at the money these machines have saved me... or made  me...

I usually break down and buy some new seed once a year or so. I try to stay current on strains... trying some new strains or redoing some old ones.... or both.... The price of seed is amazing...... anyways.. Of the seed I buy, I try to keep one or two of the best phenos as moms. Using those plants, and clones that are given to me, I make it through the year or more with various strains to puff...

Hey so check out how I triple plug... Based on foliage and length of stem, if I got good air flow I'll triple plug, if I have the cuts... I try to "soft tissue" clone if possible they root faster and easy....... You have to vegg them longer cause they are smaller in size... but you cant beat the technique..... Usually taking my cuts from the small thin lower braches. I keep most of my lateral branching and main branch tips... most of my clone cuts have a very thin diameter stem... under 1/8th of a inch, more like 1/16th... if I had my pick. The tissue is soft, easy to develop root growth....and full of growth hormones, helping the speed it roots... my thinking.. That size cutting also allows you to triple plug very easy.

I try to keep them this thin if not thinner

Check this photo of my triple plugs..

If your gonna "double" and "triple" plug be sure that the cuts don't touch below the rubber. It makes it easier to get "mush stem" if they do...

When I'm loading plugs, I cut under water and dip in old school "Dip and Grow" for a few seconds.....I then spray them with Bubblemans, "Powdery Mildew Killer" mix..... before plugging them and loading them in the machine. Its the only time I spray them... Over the years I've found, for me, that spraying them with a PM preventive, then leave them dry till they root....  works the best for me.....Yeah I don't spray or mist the cuts, but that one time... before I load them. I also try to use a dry plug.. don't know if it helps anything but I like dry plugs..

I also run Clonex at 20ml per gallon in my cloner water.... it's like 9 to 10 gallons for the 60 site...  so that's like 180 ml a week.. Hey Clonex is not cheap.. $25 bucks a bottle.......... Im very frugal when it comes to buying nutrients... I just really feel they (Nute companies) are burning all of us....  I wont get started...... but I've also run straight water with great success. Just takes longer to root... but they do root. on straight water, air and light.

Yeah I was watching You Tube and "Bubbleman's World" popped up in the search screen... so anyway...... he was running down some of his tech on Powdery Mildew.. and shared his low impact solution you can make at home.... Well I tried it.... and it works great........ so I use it in my preventive maintenance grow practices.

Heres the mix:

1                 gallon water
1 Tbs          baking soda
1 Tsp          cooking oil
3 drops       liquid dish soap

Mix in container,
shake up before use..
spray till dripping wet...
use daily until PM is beat down

So with that.... I'll close here....

Gonna start getting my next project together..... waiting on parts for my colloidal silver generator.......

Yep gonna try making my own female seed...............So we will see....

Soooooooo until again..

Hey you should really try Bubblemans, "Powdery Mildew" mix.... works hella good...

Trying to "get back at it" .....again......this is "get back at it" try #3

Get back at it (writing daily ) is what I meant..

Anyways for some reason I felt like writing something on my blog which I've ignored.... due to being hit with a big dose of "writing block", and depression ... and after watching what was, and is, happening in social media and blogs all over... "Invasion of the Haters"..... the internet is now a spot for Haters, and bullies, to gather and unite under the banner of hate..  On so many forums... all they do is argue and flame.. They gang up on those they deem unworthy..... all Haters are anonymous or use an alias ...... they write things they would never say to your face.... or anyone's face.....their Moms taught them better.... they rally together like fish feeding..... They invade your life trying to get a least tidbit of info to use to hate on you.....

I suppose they have rubbed off on me... some...... because I Hate "them.... the Haters",  so enough with these sort of people....... the internet has gave these haters...... some cover to hide behind.... so they spit their venom at all those that do not conform to their ways.... anyway........ screw em...

On to more important things...... like whatzzzz up........ looking for some kick 420ish type photos to throw up.

Yeah let me show you tonites line up....

getting on about 6 pm Pacific Time.... give or take...... I'm gonna try to get like this silly duck

while I got this open range beef "T Bone" marinating...........

then gonna pull out some of last seasons, "Gush".......... an puff me enough to bring the fog in......

GUSH

Then gonna cook and eat that steak, matter of fact........ I'm gonna pause here
be right back with full stomach....

So I'm back....stuffed. Was shoveling it......only chewing, like every third bite............

Hey so check out these seeded BOG Bubble, 8 outta 10... I'm cool with that.... 80% germ rate...hoping for 6 females out of those 8.....

BOG Bubble

So yeah...
I flowered out all my last years cloning stock..... so I went and spent some dough on some killer seeds, from various breeders... as well as my own seed stock....

I grow veggies also...well watermelon and corn...a few  onions....  Made some killer watermelon seeds last year.. some germed in 4 days...  Seeing its only me, Kiki the cat, and Jake, my road dog.. so not much veggie garden needed for one human, Probably should be growing potatoes too.... as you can see I'm a "meat and potatoes" kinda guy... anyway...

so here's the  big seed lineup.... it was like hard to choose... so many strains......so many breeders...and so little dough... well $300 bucks isn't little money for me....most seeds from top breeders are running like $10 to $15 per seed, on average.... some breeders actually are priced  higher than that.... so you can see, it's a big money move for me, to get some decent Bona Fide Mother stock..... for cloning and seed.

I really wanted Bog's "Sour Bubble".... Found it at GTA seeds for $100 for 13 pack.... but its $20 shipping and handling. Too much for me and my budget.... at least this go round. I did have a purchasing plan.... well.... sort of.  I wanted good recognized breeder seeds, that had good bouquet (smell), a decent yield, and could bring the fog in. All at a good price... not any of that 200 bucks a pack... I wish.. I'm a cheapo anyways.... Like all these strains will be what I grow rest of the year.... well......I'll try... Since I'm a "Seed" Monster..

So.......... this is what I bought....

"BOG Bubble "         BOG Seeds
"Critical Hog"          TH Seeds
"Grapefruit"             Emerald Triangle Seeds
"Sour Puss"              TH Seeds
"MK-Ultra"              TH Seeds
"Chronic"                 Serious Seeds

seeds in water soak

Of course, as usual, They kicked down some freebie seeds with my order  all were single fem seeds... of those... 3 were autos... have never grown one, but wait for my next post....cause I put those autos in the ground, I'm really tripping on their growth patterns.... 2 of them already kicking out waves of pistils.. full flower under 18/6 lighting, in 4 weeks....one of them... Bubblegum by Delicious seeds.. looking real decent... Anyway Ill give a full accounting on that little adventure in growing. if it wasn't for some good info on autos, gleamed from THC Farmer forum, I probably wouldn't have done as well....it being my first time out growing autos... and didn't have a clue... Got some mixed feelings on them.. but I'll wait till they finish to see what kinda high, and taste they have... but I do know this........ now that so many breeders are selling them now..... so some think that due to all the breeding activity with autos. they no longer have a really short life span. use to be like 60 days start to finish.. now its more like 10 to 12 weeks or more to finish if your looking to yield their full potential... So whats the big draw??? I don't get  it.. its like almost the same amount of time to just grow regular seed. They only get up around  3 foot tall with some auto strains... and the yield is like around an ounce or so per plant.... And get this..... they are priced the same as reg seeds... $10 to $15 bucks per.... So the investment trying to run an early outdoor season, is substantial.... as well as low yielding. anyway... Ill get some photos of them to throw up soon.

So Hey.......whats the scoop on this new "Dry Sift" thing..... utube is full of it... I'm about to explore this "Dry Sifting" thing myself.. It'll be my next journey... waiting on my order of screens now... Only went for 2 screens.. really all you need... anyway if I like the Technique.... I can always add a screen. The screens should be here in a day or 2...

Well gonna stop here.... gotta save some for the next post

Just how long has it been…

Well its been a few months (like around 36 months… I think….), since I last posted here or anywhere…. Funny how life can change just like that……As did mine. My mental Health, and financial status were under attack by “the Haters”…… Right then an opportunity appeared..so I jumped on it… with both feet… I moved out of the city, to the North country and I mean country… not even one traffic light in the town, and probably half the population is off the grid.  I love it… oh this transition has not been an easy one. Things have happened that have not been good for me, or my life, and continue to be so, which I may…. or may not …..decide to write about. As I said, I love the area, and most of its people, but they aren't all loving me…

So much has happened in the last three years, I wouldn’t know what to write about, to bad, I'm not one to keep a journal, I just cant remember to write in it… my memory is so really bad… like my eye sight.

Suffice it to say I'm up in  Northern California, doing what I love…. Just trying to slowly live life, trying to stay young… at least in mind and attitude.

I really don ’t know what I'm gonna write in these following days but I'm gonna see if I can get fired up, writing about my daily doings, like I use to.

I hope I can write about some things that some one who may read this, might find it amusing or interesting, no matter the subject matter. I write what I know , what I see, what I experience.

So let me tell ya a little about this place I've found myself loving…. I haven't seen a whole lot of it but what I've seen I love…..

Here's a Hodge Podge of photos taken during my last 3 years here. Now there's more winter photos than the rest… not that its any nicer than summer……. As much as I hate being cold.. I love the winters here, of course that’s with heat…. of course….. anyway……

I Know.... I Know..

Yeah the video in my last post, is doing a "speed racer", sort of thing. I couldn't figure out what the heck.. All morning I been looking for the reason its doing that...................
then .... there is was in small print. "100mb maximum"
well thats like 25 seconds of AVI. video file. The file I posted was 450mb.
it's 1 minute and 30 seconds long........... It must've compressed it into a playable form which causes the fast forward play.......
So in the future I'll try it again.... Until then

This is how we do it…………

Well this going to be my first video I ever actually posted. Hopefully the first in more to come. I don’t have a decent video camera is kinda a problem Yeah…. but my trusty 9mp GE A950 camera will shoot 30 minutes of video so we’ll see what gives…….. This short video was taken with my built-in web cam, located in my Acer 1410 netbook, the workhorse, and current primary entertainment media for this old foolio…..

So here's my video debut…….. It was filmed last year, If I remember right I  was already feeling no pain, and thought I’d film some proof,, and bragging rights to the fellas, that I was burning some mean bubble…… “Full Melt verified”

so check it out….that’s a dime sized bubble patty on the screen. So you tell me…….

Un-edited, so it’s a little rough…..

That’s some “Widow” bubble, wasn’t real clean, but it Full-melted, very nicely…It wasn’t “clear dome” though…  left a good size carbon footprint. Great first hit bouquet also.

Gonna close it here, So I can see how this video posting goes. Might start doing more of them if it’s about something.

Until again…..

It’s all in the Color….

Sitting here puffing a nice fattie of the homeboy, “Abe’s” , most recent labors, a nice plump flower of “Blue Dream”. So it only makes sense that me…puffing on that… while I was fanning around, in a 5 gallon bucket, full of HeadBand Kush, and thinking about Grand Daddy Purps… Hoo Raw,  Cali – forny – I – aaaa

Seriously though, I’m thinking about, whoa.. wait up…. before I 4get….. check out this furred out, afro-ed, HeadBand Kush. In Growers talk, “it had a high leaf to calyx ratio”.

GEDC2634GEDC2640

Its ugly as heck  and a pain to trim. He’s losing a lot to get it presentable.

GEDC2646

Trimming that Kush, is more a shaping type thing, you trimmers will know what I’m talking ……Oh and the stink on that HeadBand…….all the way to the roach… but anyway… back to the Grand-Daddy…

Some of the homeboy “Abe’s”, Grand-Daddy Purps flowers were PURPLE. you know…. like damn near “Black & Blue using the old boxing term…  check them out

GEDC2654GEDC2657

I got to wondering does it really make a difference…Uno the Purple color and all. “Does the purple color really make a difference.”

So sticky and colorful… were they all the way purple for a reason, or what..

So I decided to find out. Now this is not a very scientific type experiment, just some old fools opinion…

The all purple flowers were lighter in weight compared to the less colored ones of equal size. They also were more “Larfy” (less dense) than the less colored purple buds from the sack. I have two (02) categories of bouquet (smell), “bag and burned”. The flowers can be stinky, as all get-out, in the bag, but when smoked… very little of that stink can be had. If you can find the strain, that has both those charactistics going for it, than you got a winner…. in my opinion. It’s something I look for in a strain…. Anyway back to the purple.

GEDC2626 this photo just isn't doing the color any justice, in person, it’s way hella more darker….. my photography inexperience is showing…

The GDP bouquet is not as intense as the ”Dream” or “Kush”, Oh… it’s there…. just kinda like a weak  “unwrapping a stick of juicy fruit gum” smell coming out the bag. After twisting one up, It held up for 3 or 4 hits off the joint. Both samples were the same type smoke, being a nice smooth textured, heavy weighted type.

So to answer my question of , “Does the purple color really make a difference.”

GEDC2648

I thought so…….

I will  say that after numerous days of smoking the GDP… that the all purple flowers did have a better and stronger bouquet, both in "bag and burned”, samples, I thought, that the all purple flowers smoked better, than the mixed colored GDP. but paid for it with very loose flowers, that became brittle after being out the bag for any amount of time.

Now this was picking average samples out of…. oh… say… 2 to 3 lbs. of “standard market” flowers. The longest being …….maybe 4 inches, and not many of those… average size in the bucket, I was fanning through, was oh……… say… 1 1/2..to… 2 1/2 inches.. a nice average “#3 firm” (on a 1 to 5 scale) in density, they weren’t rock hard. Still a very nice product.

GEDC2628

Specially when you bring in the medicinal factor. Which both samples measured the same.  Each had a 3 to 5 minute creep. Wasn’t to “top heavy”, so for those of you that don’t like that spacey “d-9”, you’d be happy with a little spot of this…. it sits somewhere in the middle on the scale, as It didn’t have much “Couch Lock” either. Well balanced, would describe it..

GEDC2630

A very pleasant experience.  Recommended at 3k a pound, it’s not priced to way way out there.
